What is a Registered Agent and Why Do You Need One?
A Registered Agent is a designated individual or entity with a physical street address in the state of formation (a P.O. Box is not allowed) who is available during normal business hours to receive official documents on behalf of your business. These documents include:
- Service of Process: Official notification of a lawsuit or subpoena.
- Government Correspondence: Annual report reminders, tax notices, and compliance alerts from the Department of Licensing and Regulatory or other state agencies.
- Other Legal Documents: Important legal notices that require a timely response.
While you can act as your own Registered Agent, doing so requires you to:
- Maintain a physical street address in the state of filing that is publicly listed.
- Be available at that address during all regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
- Risk missing crucial documents if you're traveling, on vacation, or simply away from your desk.
- Have your personal address (if using your home) exposed on public records.
Hiring a professional Registered Agent service provides privacy, reliability, and peace of mind, ensuring you never miss a critical notice.

Registered Agent Service
Service Fee: Annual Subscription
Our Registered Agent Service is provided on an annual subscription basis.
- Initial Subscription: Fees for the initial annual subscription are generally non-refundable once your appointment as our Registered Agent has been officially filed with the relevant state. This is because our service begins immediately upon designation, and we assume the legal responsibility of being your agent for the subscribed period.
- Renewals: For subsequent annual renewals, you will typically be invoiced prior to your renewal date.
- If you choose to cancel your Registered Agent service before the renewal period begins and before we have processed any renewal filings on your behalf, you will not be charged for the upcoming year.
- Once a renewal fee has been processed and applied for the upcoming year, it becomes non-refundable.
2. State Filing Fees for Registered Agent Changes:
- If your service includes us filing a "Change of Registered Agent" form with the state, any state filing fees associated with this change are non-refundable once submitted to the other state agencies. These fees are collected by the government and are beyond our control.
3. Termination of Service by Client:
- You may terminate our Registered Agent service at any time by providing written notice to info@businessmoneyguru.com.
- No pro-rated refunds will be issued for any unused portion of a pre-paid annual subscription period. This policy reflects the administrative costs associated with establishing and maintaining the Registered Agent designation.
- Upon termination, it is your responsibility to appoint a new Registered Agent with the state and officially update your business records. We are not responsible for any penalties, loss of good standing, or legal consequences that may arise from your failure to appoint a new Registered Agent after terminating our service.
4. Our Responsibility and Limitations:
- Our service is limited to receiving and forwarding official legal and governmental correspondence as mandated by state law. We are not a general mail forwarding service and will not accept personal mail, junk mail, or packages.
- We are not responsible for delays in mail delivery once documents are forwarded by us via postal service or email.
